As Darren and I celebrate our very last Christmas/New Year’s on the islands, it certainly brings back a lot of fond memories of this wonderful place where we called home for the past 6-1/2 years. Just within this such short period of time, we both went from working for someone else to building our own businesses.
It definitely has been an amazing journey, especially the past year which has been a year of change, challenge and growth… We made the decision to move to O`ahu after living on Mau`i for 5-1/2 years to train with this amazing photography company in Honolulu; we constantly challenge ourselves to be better people and better photographers; and we keep growing and learning our craft every single day. We are blessed to be able to do what we love, and we can’t wait to shoot weddings, engagements, family, kids and pet portraits in the San Francisco Bay Area under our new brand U Me Us Studios. We look forward to reconnect with our past clients and meet with future clients at our new live/work artist loft in Emeryville, CA.
To all of you who helped shape us and were a part of our lives in the past few years, we thank you for all of your love and continued support. Have a wonderful holiday season and see you all in 2012!

Ericka and I have known each other for a few years now. We both started our wedding planning on The Knot and we have kept in touch all these years with this amazing group of women. When she told me that she and Jeff and Baby Elle would be stopping by Honolulu on her way to visit her family in the Philippines, and she asked if Darren and I could do a family portrait session for them, of course we said YES!
Our session was originally scheduled for the Saturday after Thanksgiving, but it was pouring that afternoon so we rescheduled it for the next morning. It was a very windy day but at least it didn’t rain anymore and Baby Elle was in a much better mood as well.
Happy holidays, the J Family! It was so nice seeing you guys and we look forward to visiting you in D.C. one of these days!

Yvette and Richard are such a fun loving couple. We took a few shots of the 2 of them during a family portrait session when we were back in the Bay, and we had such a great time that they decided to book us for a full engagement session the weekend after that. We met up at this amazing store in the City called Flora Grubb Gardens. If you like gardening, this is the place to be. They have all sorts of plants and gardening accessories for your outdoor space. I am a “brown thumb” and totally not into gardening at all, but I love this place as there are so many cool spots to shoot. They have plants totally growing out of cars and trucks; they have colorful tables and chairs hanging on this wood wall; they have beautiful planters hanging on colored walls. We had an awesome time there.
Then we headed out to Baker Beach for some sunset shots. That’s one of our favorite locations for engagement or wedding photos. There is nothing more iconic than the Golden Gate Bridge in the background. It’s soooo romantic! We ended the session at the Xanadu Gallery on Maiden Lane right by Union Square. It was originally the V. C. Morris gift shop designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. As we did our last few off camera shots outside the gallery, it started raining… but it was a really fun day.
Congrats, Yvette and Richard! We look forward to catching up with you both soon!

It’s always great to reconnect with past clients. Ivy and Howard got married at the Olowalu Plantation House on Mau`i back in September 2008, and I was their planner at the time. We kept in touch all these years and since January 2011, their family has grown from 3 (including their fur baby, Rala) to 4.
Darren and I had such a wonderful time photographing the family at Piedmont Park last month when we were back in the Bay. Baby Quinley was a doll, she was smiling the entire time during the shoot… what a sweetie pie! Ivy and Howard, it was so nice seeing you guys again and meeting Baby Q. We wish you a happy holiday season and we can’t wait to hang out with you soon in our new neighborhood! :)
